The
Model 404BZ(BU) is a precision batch weighing system consisting of an Acrison rugged-duty, ultra-high resolution, counterbalanced "platform" type weighing mechanism ... upon which an Acrison Dry Solids Feeder and a Metalfab Bulk Bag Unloader are mounted... uniquely configured and designed to precisely weigh the discharge of product, on a batch basis, by a highly advanced multiprocessor control system.
Unlike the typical variety of batch weighing bulk bag unloaders mounted on delicate and problematic load cells, the specially configured Model 404BZ(BU) weighing mechanism has been ruggedly designed for weight-loss batching applications where product supply is contained within a bulk bag.
In operation, product discharges out of the bulk bag unloader and into the feeder beneath. Upon command, and in precise relation to a batch-weight set point, the feeder then meters product until the desired batch weight has been reached, and stops. Operating at fast and dribble speeds, the feeder provides the highest possible degree of response, for very precise accuracy. The Model 404BZ(BU) Bulk Bag Unloader Batch Weigher is not designed for continuous operation; it has been specifically designed for short term batch weighing.
The Metalfab Bulk Bag Unloader produces dependable discharge of a wide variety of dry solid ingredients from reusable or disposable bags, up to 3300 pounds in weight. The bag unloader consists of a durable metal structure with four reinforced metal legs, isolated from its mounting by wear-resistant rubber bushings. The top of the bag support structure consists of a thick rubber seal with a large circular hole in the center, upon which the bag sits. The bag is placed on the structure (and rubber seal) by either a fork lift or a crane, supported at its four top corners by a specially designed framework.
Mounted to the side of the bag support structure is an adjustable electric vibrator motor which produces controlled vibration to both the bag and its contents for the promotion of positive and reliable product flow into the feeder mounted beneath. The heavy rubber seal, which is very resilient and conforms to the shape of the bottom of the bag, prevents dust from escaping to atmosphere and keeps foreign material out of the process. A hinged door in the lower conical portion of the bag support structure enables the operator to easily and quickly release the bag closure without product spillage or waste. The bottom of the bag support structure, below the rubber seal, also includes a dust exhaust port.
An Acrison Dry Solids Volumetric Feeder, mounted below, receives product from the outlet of the bulk bag unloader. The model and size of this volumetric feeder is selected based on the characteristics of the product and the feed rate output that is necessary to achieve the required batch (weight) in the prescribed period of time. Usually, an Acrison dissimilar speed, Double Concentric Auger Metering Mechanism is selected (i.e., an Acrison Model 105Z or 140 Feeder) because of the superior functional versatility this particular feeder model provides.
The weighing system of the Model 404BZ(BU) Bulk Bag Unloader Batch Weigher is a specifically configured, heavy-duty Acrison Model 404Z "platform" type weighing mechanism for highly-reliable, ultra-precise weight sensing and exceptional longevity. Its non-load cell design utilizes a split-beam lever network incorporating Acrison designed and manufactured frictionless flexures for all connecting (pivotal) requirements. In addition, the weighing mechanism is counterbalanced, so that only the net weight of product within the bag is weighed.
As product is added or subtracted from the platform of the weighing (scale) system, the lever network moves in a direct and perfectly linear relationship to that weight. In turn, this movement is sensed by Acrison's Ratiometric Digital Weight Resolver, instantaneously converting this motion into an unamplified twenty bits of data, representing weight sensing resolution of one part in 1,048,576.
The Model 404BZ Weighing System does not require rezeroing, adjustment or recalibration. Its unique, rugged-duty, permanently calibrated, counterbalanced lever network and inherent ability to easily withstand the vibration produced by the bulk unloader, ensure maximum operational flexibility, dependability, and long-term stability of performance.
Since the early 1970's, Acrison's various model "platform" type weighing systems have proven their broad scope viability and longevity in thousands of operating installations on a worldwide basis.
Several Acrison designed and manufactured multiprocessor controllers may be utilized with the Model 404BZ(BU) Batch Weighing Systems typically, the Models BC-702 and MD-II 2000. These controllers include an unsurpassed assortment of features specifically designed to enhance and simplify weigh feeder operation, while providing the highest possible degree of overall performance with microprocessor speed, precision and reliability.
The Models BC-702 and MD-II 2000 Controllers have also been designed to provide substantial flexibility in the operating modes. For single unit operation, they can be operated as individual stand-alone devices, or under the control of a remote master. Additionally, they can be operated from a remote signal via serial communication. The desired mode of operation can be easily selected from the keyboard.
All of Acrison's various batch weighing controllers also include a unique and proprietary feature... BATCH-LOK... which ensures a precise batch weighment, should the weighing system detect an abnormal disturbance during the batch weighing cycle that would, otherwise, adversely affect performance.
