Magnetic Products, Inc., located in Highland, MI, is a worldwide provider of material handling solutions including magnetic separation and magnetic and non-magnetic materials handling equipment. The cornerstones of MPI's creation were to advance the current technology of permanent magnets used in industry and to provide a basic understanding of selecting and maintaining magnetic equipment to meet user expectations.
Type "A" Magnetic Circuits - Type "A" magnetic separators utilize a number of closely spaced north & south magnetic "poles" to create a powerful magnetic field to capture and retain small to medium sized tramp metal contaminants. Type "A" magnet circuits are ideally suited for applications such as final inspection of high quality consumer food products. Type "A" magnets are available in a wide range of models each having many standard sizes to meet your specific application and budget requirements.
MPI’s Drawer & Housings offer a pre-engineered design solution to improve operator access on manual clean models or complete automation on self clean models. These features reduce or eliminate costly man hours required to maintain maximum magnet performance. The pre-engineered designs also improve plant area housekeeping and minimize product loss during cleaning through the use of robust and reliably designed Housing seals and component mechanisms.
MPI’s magnetic Grates and Tubes provide effective magnetic protection in a wide variety of free flowing, vertical, gravity product streams. They are easy to install and are an economical solution to protect processing equipment and improve or maintain product quality standards. As tramp metals are captured, they are washed around to the magnet’s underside where it is hidden from oncoming product flow, eliminating tramp metal "wash-off".
MPI’s Pneumatic Line Magnets are designed exclusively for use in Dilute-Phase pneumatic conveying systems. Typical applications include powder or granular food products, pharmaceuticals, plastics and chemicals that are conveyed in these, high speed low density to air volume systems. As product is conveyed in the line it is diverted around the magnet’s nose cone and past the alternating north & south magnetic poles. The tramp metals are captured on and collect behind the sanitary welded, ribbed magnetic poles to minimize tramp metal "wash-off".
MPI’s Liquid Trap Magnets are designed to remove metal contaminants from food grade quality, sanitary application liquid process flow lines. The magnetic Tubes or "fingers" protrude from the housing top, down into the process flow area. As product is pumped past the magnetic tubes, metal contaminants are captured and collected. Process line size, pressure and product viscosity are three key factors when considering this model magnetic separator.
MPI’s All Magnetic Grate is designed to offer a 100% magnetic coverage Grate Magnet design. The Grate Magnet’s frame element(s) is magnetically charged to provide a powerful magnetic surface to collect tramp metal and also magnetically charges the Grate Magnet’s diverters. The diverters are made from 400 grade stainless steel allowing them to become magnetized so they can also capture tramp metal. This product is commonly found in choke fed gravity hopper systems such as plastics injection molding machines.
Type "B" Magnetic Circuits - Type "B" magnetic separators utilize a north & south magnetic "pole" with large spacing between poles to create a powerful magnetic field to capture and retain medium to large sized tramp metal contaminants. Type "B" magnets are ideally suited for applications that include high product volume stream flows and the need to capture and retain large volumes of tramp metal between magnet cleaning cycles. Type "B" magnets are available in a wide range of model each having many standard sizes to meet your specific application and budget requirements.
MPI’s Plate Magnet provides a very effective yet economical magnetic protection in gravity-fed angled chutes. These magnets are available in a very wide range of models, configurations and sizes to meet nearly any application. As products pass over or under the magnet, tramp metal is pulled to the magnet’s working surface and held in place until removed by either manual or automatic self cleaning methods, depending on the model selected.
MPI’s Hump Magnet includes the use of (2) Plate Magnets installed into a Hump shaped housing designed for use in vertical gravity chutes. As the product drops through the chute it passes across the 1st Plate Magnet where metals are captured. The Hump configuration of the unit causes the product to "flip over" as it passes across the 2nd magnet. This method of handling the product through the magnetic separator provides superior metal removal performance.
MPI’s Magnetic Chute includes the use of (2) or (4) Plate Magnets located on opposite sides of a vertical chute depending on the model selected. As product is conveyed by gravity vertically, the tramp metal contaminants are captured by the opposing Plate Magnets. These models offer a very effective yet low profile elevation magnetic solution and are available in either (2) or (3) cell configurations with manual or automatic self cleaning design options.
MPI’s Suspended Permanent Magnet provides a deep reaching magnetic field able to lift and capture tramp metal from high speed product conveyor belts at a distance of up to 12" from the conveyor belt surface. An effective MPI exclusive designed manual winch, cable and collection pan cleaning system is offered on larger models. A motor driven automatic self cleaning continuous cleated belt system is also available.
MPI’s Magnetic Rotary Feeder offers both a controlled product feed device into process equipment such as Hammer Mills and a very effective magnetic separator all in one. This model is available in mounting flange patterns to retro-fit onto existing Hammer Mills to provide better hammer and screen wear and improvements in grinding capacity feed rates. These models can easily be modified at our factory to fit other types of process equipment. The powerful Plate Magnet is mounted to the feeder with MPI’s exclusive magnet track cleaning system. This provides an easy, one hand cleaning feature on manual clean models that really works and is available in automatic self cleaning design also.
MPI’s Suspended Electro Magnet has been developed to handle high volume product stream flows that exceed the limitations of standard permanent suspended magnets. These models are available in both, manual on/off or automatic, self cleaning system designs. Electrical Power Supplies to operate the magnets are also available and recommended to ensure proper electrical power is supplied to the magnet.
MPI’s Liquid Plate Trap is available in single or double Plate Magnet models and is designed to fit in standard liquid product process lines. As product is pumped past the powerful permanent Plate Magnet, tramp iron is captured. The magnet(s) is easily removed from the housing without the requirement of tools to remove collected tramp iron. Housings are offered in either a industrial class or sanitary food grade surface finish.
Type "C" Magnetic Circuits - Type "C" magnetic separators utilize a number of north & south magnetic "poles" with large spacing between poles to create a powerful magnetic fields to capture and retain small, medium, and large sized tramp metal contaminants. Type "C" magnets are ideally suited for applications that included high product volume stream flows, the need to capture, retain, or automatically remove large volumes of tramp metal between magnet cleaning or inspection cycles and high quality metal removal performance is needed. Type "C" magnets are available in a smaller range of models as compared to type "A" and "B" magnet circuit separators. The models available offer many standard sizes to meet your specific application and budget requirements.
MPI’s Free Flow Cylinder Magnet is an MPI exclusive designed magnetic separator that utilizes a six sided permanent magnet located in the center of a stainless steel housing for use in vertical gravity-fed product flows. As the product passes over and around the magnet, tramp iron is captured and collected. Oncoming product flow, if able, washes tramp metal around to the bottom side of the magnet to eliminate tramp iron "wash-off". These models are ideally suited for applications that require high magnetic performance in difficult flowing, abrasive or high volume process stream flows.
MPI’s Separation Roll magnets are designed to retro-fit into new or existing product belt conveyors. Like Drum Magnets, these models are available in standard AXIAL (MPI type ‘C’) magnetic design or RADIAL & SALIENT (MPI type ‘A’) magnet designs. A variety of shaft mounting options and lagging are available on all sizes.
MPI’s Drum Separator magnets provide continuous collection and removal of tramp iron in vertical gravity-fed process streams. Depending on the application, these models are available in standard AXIAL (MPI type ‘C’) magnetic design or RADIAL & SALIENT (MPI type ‘A’) magnet designs.
MPI’s Eddy Current Separator has been designed using only the highest quality magnetic materials and system components to ensure safe and reliable superior performance. All units include MPI’s soft start PLC electrical controls. Eddy Current Rotors are also available for customers fabricating their own brand of Material Recycling Facilities and systems equipment.
